1995 - Stampede Meat's inaugural year – Joseph B. Ligas (CEO) saw an opportunity within the marketplace for value-added, portioned, and cooked “Center of the Plate” foods.
Stampede Meat is a relatively recent addition among meat manufacturers, yet our roots are deeply imbedded in the
industry.
Joseph B. Ligas (CEO) realized an opportunity within the
highly
competitive marketplace for value-added, portioned, and
cooked “Center of the Plate” foods. Using his life-long
experience working in the Chicago Stockyards, Joseph Ligas
set out to
create a company that would raise the bar for
producers in the meat industry.
Backed by a combined work
experience of over a century in the meat industry,
Joseph Ligas with his two
sons, daughter, salesperson,
controller and a staff of office and
supervisory personnel
developed what he knew was an exciting opportunity.
Operations began on January 14, 1995 and today
Stampede Meat, Inc. has nearly 750 employees.
Stampede's new production and distribution facility opened September 23rd 2003,
making it the newest and largest steak cutting facility in the Chicagoland area.
